CAIRO – Minister of State for Antiquities Affairs Mohamed Ibrahim decided on Thursday to ban special visits to any of the closed archaeological places unless after the approval of specialized committees.

The decision came after a German researcher managed to steal some samples from one of the closed rooms located above the burial chamber of King Khufu in Giza.

The German researcher conducted some tests on the samples he stole without having any official permit, he added.

The minister also instructed increasing the number of archaeologists and inspectors during the time of special visits to avoid the reoccurrence of such incidents.
